Your composite is now the average of your English, Math and Reading scale scores. Science is optional: it still gets its own 1–36 score and feeds the STEM score, and some colleges, scholarship programs and state requirements still ask for it — so check what your target schools want before skipping it. Prep built on the retired four-section test will point you at the wrong section, and a calculator that divides by four will hand you the wrong number.
Also worth knowing: only the scored questions above count — the rest are unscored field-test items you cannot identify — and there is no penalty for a wrong answer, so never leave a question blank.

The Enhanced ACT, which is the current test. Scored questions are English 40, Math 41, Reading 27 and Science 34, and your composite is the average of English, Math and Reading only. This matters more than it sounds: a lot of ACT prep material and a lot of score calculators still assume the retired 75/60/40/40 test with Science in the composite, and will give you a number for a test that no longer exists.
No. On the Enhanced ACT, Science is optional and is excluded from the composite. It still produces its own 1-36 scale score and feeds the STEM score (the average of Math and Science), and some colleges, scholarship programs and state testing requirements still want it.
